Powered by pressurized CO2 gas. Comes with 6 refill cartridges. Info on CO2 power system here.
The wings are controlled by a hand held control pad (not shown). CO2 is loaded into the tanks on the wings via a bicycle tire style connector. If CO2 cartridges are not available these wings can also be refilled at gas stations and wherever compressed air is available.
As with all gadgets they are constantly being improved. Since these pictures above have been taken (March 2007) the standard wing design has been upgraded to close tighter reducing the closed width by 20% and the air tanks now have an aluminum sleeve to protect them.

OPTIONS:
1. The wing blades can be painted any color for $30 extra. The standard plastic blades can also be replaced with aluminum blades for the same price.
2. LED light effects are available for $100. Two rings of super bright LED's light up the wing blades. LED's are hidden underneath the two black circles in the middle of the wings. Available in blue, white, red and green.
3. Wings can be upgraded to an electric version for an extra $100. (Takes 8 AA batteries)
4. Thick foam padding on backpack and straps: $50 extra

The videos and pictures below show a customer requested modified version of the CO2 Powered Alpha Wings with the following modifications: Aluminum blades ($30 extra), pink straps (no cost), reduced number of wing blades for extra tight close (no cost), and wing blade mounting points for fabric attatchment ($10 extra).
